I have been pretty close to be working in Malacca for 3 months. And I can say, I do miss working in Spore. Besides the $$, there are other factors as well.
Like:
1) I need to get into a stressful environment of driving to work and parking my car and walk so far to get to the office. Previously, it was just a 5-10mins bus and short walk to and from the bus stop to the office.
2) I hardly go back on the dot of 5.30pm now. I used to go back sharp 5.30pm because the company bus comes at that time or at 6.10pm, 2nd bus. And they drop us off at the nearest MRT station which I just need to take a 5 min walk back to my apt. How's that?!
3) If calculating 1:1, FOOD is EXPENSIVE. I can hardly recall eating mere economy rice or fried rice or normal hawker food for more than SGD3! Now it's like double!
4) I thought working in Spore is stressful, here is worse! I'm doing pau-ka-liao job here and there I was complaining about my job there. Sigh.
5) Freedom is limited here. I don't need to scan in, I can leave the office at anytime with the notification of my mgr (don't need to have gate-pass). Access to most of the things, I can listen to songs, bla bla.
6) Everywhere seems to be so far though it's near. Like to go from a place in Malacca, you need to drive. I realized I waste a lot of my time on the road, as compared to when we were in Spore.
7) Too many negativity at work. Ppl especially. They are so afraid of doing things, and for me, I think like this, they will never progress, always wanting to be keeping themselves in their own tortoise shell. :) And sometimes, I just don't give a hoot, but I just need to be frank with them. Sorry, but I try not to be influenced by your negativity. :)
Ah well, life goes on. Ppl always think Malacca is the best. I agree, but that's because I guess I think that it's the best place that Sara should be for now. Even that, I might change my mind on that statement. It's not easy when you're back with family and when ppl have so many opinions on how you should run your life. It's hard to draw the line. Whatever it is, no plans to turn back, though I wish there is. Time is running short. Sigh.
