On to the TERIFFIC twos

Sara is approaching that TERRIFIC two's phase. I say teriffic and not terrible because I want to CONFESS that it's gonna be a terrific phase. I see many parents, or carers likes to mention, "My monsters, my monkeys, etc" when they talk about their kids, but I try to refrain from doing so. We once learnt from a life seminar (6 weeks long) that what we speak into the lives of the children is important. It is either a BLESSING or a CURSE into their lives. And yes, even though they might not understand, but if it is repeated often enough, it will either directly or indirectly affect them in their growing years.

We sent Sara to nursery for about three weeks now. We started off with half day, and things happened, and so this week we switched on to full-day nursery.
Her typical routine for the day will be: Wakes up, drinks milk -> Poo -> bath, change -> Go to nursery -> activities (flash cards, blocks, sing songs, etc) -> bathe -> Lunch -> sleep (1.5hrs) -> tea-break, activities -> home -> sleep.

My poor girl, since she started nursery, she probably doesn't eat well during lunch and doesn't sleep well too. So by the time she comes home, her eyes wanna close. Teacher said she's surprisingly intelligent, and most of the time, she can do all the flash cards, and actions songs also she knows. So much so, she doesn't like mixing around with the other kids, which is weird because when we send her to Sunday school, she can sit and mingle with the kids. We explained to the teacher that Sara doesn't baby talk. She wants milk, she will say milk. Or bath. or something like that. She doesn't understand "nen-nen" or "shee-shee". So this morning, I spoke to the teacher to "upgrade" her to the 3yo class if she finds it boring. Also, maybe because she doesn't understand the kids, that's why she doesn't know how to socialise with them just yet. And also, teacher said she can talk very well for a 2yo when some of her peers can hardly talk.

I hope I can transfer her to a Montessori kindy once she hits 3years old or probably to a Chinese-based kindy. Right now, we just hope she can learn something or two in this current kindy. If she is fine, then we wouldn't change schools for her at all.

We were discussing about education system. Sigh, most likely we will need to look to international schools in the near future. Till then, both Mummy and Daddy need to work like a horse to put darling into a good school. :/ Even my mum as an educator for the past more than 30 years, do not have high hopes for our country's education system.

At this point of time,
- Sara can briefly count 1-10 in English and in Chinese.
- Recognise the differences between alphabets and numbers
- Knows most of the animals & their sounds
- Loves action songs and can sing with more words
- Speaks in phrases of about 5 words. E.g: "Go mama's house eat banana". " Mama, pease have water? Tank-jiu". "Go ome, cook chicken, feese, rice".
- Vocab of more than 50 words. (practically everything she knows what is it).
- Heard a new word from her. While in her car seat or high chair, she says, "BUCKLE" belt. Very crisp and clear.
- Very good imitator. E.g.: She saw me sharpening her color pencils and she did it without me around, but with her toy blocks.
- Has a mind on her own, she understands roughly when we explain to her of the impact of her actions, and leads to what consequences.

Till then, we still want Sara to enjoy her childhood as much as she can!

Mummy and Daddy loves you, Rara!
