Taking part again in a 10km run after a long break of about 3 years! (Ever since I got preggie in 2009). Obviously my timing was not that good or as good as before I was preggy. Yes, the weight matters! I am still 7kg heavier than I was before, and my timing stood at 1:25:07. Well, pretty much ok, since I did it in less than 1:30. I underestimated the weather for night runs. It's much more humid and hotter at night than morning runs.
Ah, well, who knows when will be my next run, because by then, I might find myself pregnant again. (oh no!). Sigh. Breaks the momentum again. Hehehe.
Why do I run? I guess, it's my hobby. I destress myself by running (That's why I do lunch-gym-ing). And I set practical targets which are achievable. And for this time, I just wanted to know where I stand after the post natal weight gain and all. It is a personal achievement for me and also a satisfaction when you just cross the finishing line. It's something I can't express in words, but only one has to go through it to know how it feels. It's just like giving birth naturally, the pain, the contractions, etc. Only one has to go through it to feel it. No words can describe how a contraction pain is exactly or how the labour time is. Hehehe.
And of course, other factors matters that I was actually from a family of atheletes. Mum was in field athletics (long jump, high jump, etc) and netball, volleyball, swimming & hockey! And she still runs and jog at least on a weekly basis. Dad was of course in hockey, tennis, and at this age of 57 he still keeps fit by playing badminton twice, weekly. And brother, of course, he was in swimming, hockey, and field athletics. :) Woohoo!
