Into the TWOs

We had a small-do for Sara yesterday, her real birthdate is today, 23-Apr-2012. It was a super last minute thing and we only confirmed and decided on the day I was supposed to fly out to Japan. (Which was 2 Mondays ago). I wanted to have a small one among friends and also of course, kids! Sara needs friends! And sadly, she doesn't have real friends at her age... Hehehe. The ones at kindy she's not that close.. but I hope she will learn to have friends there.

So, invites were sent out hurriedly before I left, and also follow up was done by hubby or when I was in Japan, FB-ing everyone. :P We just decided to invite whoever that is in Melaka. And only my aunt's family because she takes care of Sara.

All in all, I think it was pretty much ok, just that it was a bit kelam-kabut because guests didn't come all at the same time, they came staggeredly and we had a time-frame to end by 1.5 to 2hrs time. Overall, I think I was quite happy with the services provided by McDonald's as they were trying to be accustomed to the needs of our guests. And the lady actually handled the kids activities very well! If I have the time next time and when Sara is older, I would probably organise something like that at home. :) I love art and crafts too!

So here are some of the highlights of the day. If you are guest at Sara's party and you have any comments and feedbacks, kindly leave a comment at the end of this post or email me to rachellmc@rocketmail.com.

The birthday cake. Almond coffee from Yeast bakery. Very nice when it's frozen! A very simple-do compared to Sara's 1st birthday cake. :P

The birthday gal, happy with her balloons.

 Guests at the party.

 1, 2, 3, throw!

 Cuttting the cake!

Sara says she blew TWO candles yesterday. :)

Yay!

Overall, this little-do cost just a fraction of what we spent last year. And it's not the $$, but we just wanted the fellowship and the kids to have fun. I hoped you all enjoy yourselves! (maybe not you, but your kids!).

Travel-ing

We have been traveling... yes. Alot.
So here are some of the updates:

We were in Penang, end of Nov.

Pretty decors at Straits Quay, a new happening place in Penang...

Sara's first time on the ferry... :)

Too tired! LOL

The famous Ayer Itam asam laksa at the market!! Slurp!

Next up, Spore, in Mid Dec.

Brightly colored streets! Love the decor and Sara was blur I think with all the lights.

Hello, Kitty!

@ TCC, family pic at the Christmas tree.. :)

Of course not to mention the good Jap food we had. Hehehe.

Till then, we will be in Malacca for Christmas. Blessed Christmas, all!

Updates!

It's been a while since I last blogged. Too busy with work and also things have been happening.

It started off with Hubby's prolonged flu, and then Sara started showing her reallll tantrums. That took the energy out of me. Phew.

Anyway, things are better at home now, and I planned a little suprise birthday dinner for hubby. He was shocked, of course as he didn't expect his bestie to be down from KL, and our Spore friends to be around too. All in all, I just love the cake the most. :P

And then, we had lunches and dinner with Liza, and dinner with Pastor J at a Korean restaurant! I really love Korean and was looking for a good one in Melaka, and we sort of found it! Yums! The kimchi soup in the hot pot was a real treat. Thanks, Pastor for the dinner and also the recommendation. :)

Shin Minori

I have not been blogging about food for the longest time, and after looking back at my previous blogpost site: Just the two of us, I missed blogging about food. I had many readers then. Hahaha.

So now, we had gone back to this restaurant called Shin Minori, TWICE!. Yes, each time we went back to Spore, we will request to eat here. Basically, when we go down to Spore or KL, we will definitely go for Jap food coz we can't find a good one in Melaka (To match the 3.5 yrs of wide varities of Jap food in Spore). Kampachi at Equatorial Hotel, is OK. But I find their sashimi is still not that fresh.

So, on we went to Shin Minori last weekend, and Sara was such a good girl, that she slept the first 1.5hrs we were there, giving us ample time to eat and savor the Jap food. Soon, we will definitely want to train her for Jap food. Probably like chawanmushi, all the softies. :)

And because our dear SL knows the owner, we got the best cut of the sashimis, the tuna belly, cod fish, sword fish. SO YUMS! Recommended to all who goes down south. More info can be found if you click on Shin Minori webby. :)

Gong Xi Fa Cai

It was Sara's first CNY. And she celebrated it in Melaka because Segamat was flooded. *Mummy grins from ear to ear*

Will blog about it later. Here, some photos of our first CNY with Sara.

Before setting out for visitation on 1st Day...

 With 3rd Aunt

Chap Chye soup... this is awesome!

 Original Itik Tim!!! Yummy!!!

Gosh! I missed this for 4 years!

Sara's on the swing for the first time. :)

 FIVE generations :)

Her angpows collected. Not to mention, the RM500 which mummy borrowed from her. Need to give tithes already. :)

Till then.. it was indeed a memorable CNY for us, but too bad, hubs was busy cleaning his house in Segamat due to the flood. Back to "reality" tomorrow after 5 days of so much of happening. :) Have a great week ahead, peeps!

Green-y

I decided to change Sara's menu since my aunt has been telling me that she doesn't like potatoes and carrots anymore. Jelak! So I bought organic spinach today and wanted to try with ikan bilis. I steamed the ikan bilis (5 small pcs), potato, carrot and spinach, last when it's about to be ready. Then, I tasted it. Yum. Nice. Surprisingly. Guess it's the power of the anchovies. Haha. No need salt at all!. Sara had half the cup, and she was too sleepy. But she seems ok with it, judging from her looks. Hahah.

Soup master

Last nite, to take a break from caring for Sara, mum asked me to have dinner with hubby while she takes care of Sara. Sara was having fluctuating fever due to mild viral fever. I think it has something to do with her teething.

So we went to Aeon as we wanted to get some stuffs for Sara as well. We chanced upon this place called Soup Master. (Tang Si Fu).

My dried scallops and abalone with rice soup. NICE! But abit disappointed with the size of the bowl. :(

Jason's soup set. I think it's like those herbal chicken soup thingy. Nice!

His mee-sua which was very, very, very tasty!!! Yums!

Overall, price is ok, as we know these herbal stuffs can sometimes cost quite abit. Damage: Rm38++ for 2 pax. I would definitely go back for their mee sua as it's their specialty. :)

Steam, flip, blend and serve!

I just love Avent stuffs. Did I tell you that? Hahaha.

Here's my first try with the steamer/ blender combo! I love it!!! It's so simple to use, you still get to taste every bit of the vegetable or things that you steam, and it blends so smooth just nice for Sara!

Chop in small sizes of 1cm cubes

The end product. So nice rite???
I ate half of the cup. Yummers!

Durians & Uncles!

It was a good, and tiring weekend. Hubby was back with 3 of our friends from Spore as it was their National Day on Monday.

Sara has been so active. Just loves people to talk and sing to her. She's very attentive, sometimes I wish what goes on in her mind. Even her pediatrician says that too. She's definitely a smart girl, who knows what's going on around her and how to get the attention of the adults.

Just today, we noticed her nose was a little runny, so we brought her to see the doc, and she's on flu medication for now.

Some updates on her:

-She now weighs 6.9kg!!!! No wonder my arms and shoulder aches to the max! Hehehe. But for a good reason :)
-She can sleep through the nites on some of the nites. PTL!
-Trying to turn from back to tummy, vice versa.. Strong girl!
-Still makes a fuss before sleeping (but it's usually shorter period), and drinking...

We had Frank, Kenneth, and Andry over at our place for the weekend, and they really could be entertainers for Sara! Hehehe. Thanks, peeps. It was good having you guys over. Breaks the monotony I guess. And I hope you peeps enjoyed the durians brought by my in laws from Segamat and from Bentong.

We managed to get Sara's passport done up today since Daddy was around. So, she's ready to go down anytime with us. Hooray!!

Till then, have a blessed week, everyone!
